With Mother Nature throwing all shades from brown to orange at us, we can’t wait to get into a cozy mood. Fur (plus the fake variations by Stella McCartney!) and shearling are not only super-warm they also have a strong vintage reference. If you don’t want to look like a hippie, combine your heavy knits and suede leather coats with classy jewels like the new Octea Nova watch from Swarovski or a pair of golden statement earrings, and go for the stylish, crystal-embellished leather boots (e.g. Prada). These days, not only Balenciaga is mad for plaid—so are we. Besides checked fabrics, you’ll find other favorite prints for fall on everything from coats to scarfs—think animal prints like leopard or python. And believe the hype or not, chocolate brown is said to be the new black; try it in soft fabrics and accessories such as a suede bucket bag by Mansur Gavriel or a beret from Saint Laurent (another big trend this fall).

This season’s jewel-tone trend is all about making a head-turning statement with bright gemstone colors from emerald to fuchsia and purple. Combine the burgundy leather gloves with a gray checked coat, or forest green earrings with a black cape. The new belt bags will almost certainly remind you of fanny packs, but these new bags are more stylish than their 80s counterparts. With fabrics like velvet and big statement logos (think Gucci) the new waist accessory will not only take the load off your shoulders, it will keep everything you need within easy reach. Just like every winter and fall, boots are the shoes of the season—but this year there are virtually no limits to form and style: choose from a wide range of suede lace-up stilettos (such as those by Giuseppe Zanotti), sock-boots and over-knees (Zara) featuring on-trend detailing such as velvet, eyelets and embellishments.

Black & White

All-black outfits have just about vanished from the runway. Instead of going monochrome, the best counterpart for black will be white this year. Animal motifs are still very popular, and the panda happens to perfectly embody the new color trend, making the best companion (see the cute gloves from Aristide). And because we love our black booties, we're making room in our hearts for a white pair (like these from Acne). Across the fashion capitals of the world, there was a huge appreciation of dazzle this season—specifically crystals. They encrust evening pouches (such as the suede one with Swarovski crystals from Lodi) and Chelsea boots (look at Louboutin)—even the brand new Nike Air Max 97 LX Swarovski were rolled in space dust. Do these sneakers remind you of the 90s? Well, something else that's even more synonymous with our favorite fashion decade has made a comeback: the choker. While tight necklaces have been gaining momentum over the past few seasons, this fall we're reaching peak choker with the Crystal Wave style, such as from Hélène Zubeldia
