It’s all Happening at Hyères 2017

It may have just entered its fourth decade, but the International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyères—the world’s oldest and most important showcase for young designers—continues to justify its cutting-edge reputation.

The 2017 edition sees the festival partnering with Swarovski to launch the debut Swarovski Fashion Accessories Prize. Positioned alongside the existing, highly influential Hyères fashion and photography awards, it has already generated huge excitement among emerging designers internationally, so competition is expected to be stiff.

The festival will take place over four days at the Villa Noailles, a modernist masterpiece situated in the hills above the oldest resort on the French Riviera. The ten finalists, supported by Première Vision and Swarovski, will create either a micro-collection or a single statement piece from the following categories: bags, shoes, jewelry, hats or sunglasses. Each finalist will then individually present directly to a jury made up of key fashion influencers. The new jury members, president, and finalists of the first Swarovski Fashion Accessories Prize will all be announced at the end of January during Paris Couture Week.

Considering its impact on a fledgling career, the prize certainly justifies taking creative risks: the winner will benefit from one of most high-profile launching platforms in the industry, as well as a €15,000 grant from Swarovski. Watch this space as we follow the people who will be shaping the future of fashion.
