India Couture Week 2018 Showcases Crystallized Jewelry for Men and Women by Rohit Bal for ConfluenceHe’s one of the stars of Asian couture, and for good reason: each piece by Rohit Bal is a masterwork of folklore and fantasy. Oozing with opulence and dramatic jewel-bright colors, his latest collection for India Couture Week 2018 finds inspiration in the forests of his childhood and introduces crystallized brooches for men and women from his new collection for Confluence-India’s first designer jewelry collective.
The flora and fauna of Kashmir provided the delightful motifs for Rohit Bal’s showcase at India Couture Week. Show notes told us that this opulent rendition of nature harked back to Bal’s childhood, when he lived surrounded by the lush greens of the forest, intoxicated with the vibrant beauty of lilies and sunflowers. It’s a heady vision that held everyone in rapture as a series of looks from his new collection GULDASTAH in sumptuous bejeweled and embroidered silks and velvets—in shades of indigo, flamingo, scarlet and gold—swished and shimmered down the runway.
Womenswear and menswear were richly embellished to an equally lavish degree. And as a further unifying—and unisex—feature, models sported dainty bird-of-paradise brooches from his new jewelry collection for Confluence – India’s first designer jewelry, collective pinned to mantelets, stoles and jackets in loving couples. These exquisitely crystallized pieces were also a huge hit at the Confluence jewelry showcase—another standout event held during the highlight of India’s fashion calendar.
