Berlin blogger extraordinaire Masha Sedgwick knows a thing (or three!) about fashion and lifestyle. So who better to ask for her expert opinion of this year’s Swarovski X VOGUE Salon? We turn the spotlight on some of her favorite Salon pieces.
The Swarovski X VOGUE Salon at Berlin Fashion Week is all about celebrating German design. This is the fifth time that the crystal maison has teamed up with VOGUE Germany to showcase the best young fashion labels. The next-generation talent selected by editor-in-chief Christiane Arp and Nadja Swarovski included Julia Seemann, Working Title, Claudia Bertini and Horror Vacui.
Masha Sedgwick chose Horror Vacui’s pretty white blouse with scalloped collar and dainty crystal detailing to team with her pleated maxi-skirt in glossy chocolate. Other pristine pieces in this antique, nightie-inspired collection showed off girly dresses featuring a pin-tucked skirt, frilled shoulders, puff sleeves, and a neat piecrust collar. Floral arrangements of crystals in candy-colored hues completed the nursery vibe.
Easy-to-wear glamour is a Sedgwick signature. So other favorites included Claudia Bertini’s pared-back, architectural silhouettes. Sophisticated wrap-pants, loose linen blouses and fluid tunics make the ideal canvas to show off sparkling beading and fringed patch pockets.
Along with the likes of Gigi and Rihanna, Sedgwick loves the bold prints of rising star Julia Seemann. Two pieces on her wish list include the crystal-hung patchwork crochet top and tartan patchwork asymmetric ruffle gown.
High quality and sustainability are also watchwords for the lifestyle blogger. That made Working Title’s capsule collection one of her top picks. Here, monochrome shades and artfully placed crystals were used to show off the complexity of the cuts to perfection. Of course, each piece is designed to last, but when they finally reach the end of their life they can be disposed of without harming the environment.
The fifth Swarovski X VOGUE Salon showcase took place at the Crown Prince’s Palace, Berlin, on July 6, 2018 during Berlin Fashion Week
