Soon after “earning her wings” and being anointed the latest Victoria’s Secret Angel, Danish-born Josephine Skriver was offered yet another modeling accolade: she is to model this year’s Swarovski look at the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Since making her debut at New York Fashion Week in 2011 her career has gone stellar. As well as walking for Calvin Klein, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Prada, she has worked on campaigns for Bvlgari, Gucci, Max Mara, Michael Kors and Tom Ford. This, however, is surely her most dazzling honor yet.

Josephine’s pre-show fitting took place in New York City on November 1—the first time the prospect of joining the ranks of fellow Angels Adriana Lima, Sara Sampaio, Lily Aldridge and Alessandra Ambrosio suddenly felt tangible.

The 23-year-old’s outfit includes a spectacular, 3,000-strand crystal fringe that sweeps the length of her entire arm span. With each arm supporting 8–10 pounds, she’s been ramping up her gym routine with upper-body workouts. The fluid movement of the crystal fringe is further enhanced by 450,000 ultra-light, mirror-finish crystals in Crystal color and Comet Argent Light effect: Every shimmering strand is composed of 150 crystals that each take 12 minutes to thread, adding up to an astonishing 600 man-hours.

But that’s only one aspect of Josephine’s showpiece outfit. Her lingerie blazes with crystal baguettes, beads, chatons, fancy stones, flat backs, pendants and sew-ons, including stunning outsize stones. Then there’s the glittering thigh-high, nude-effect boots. Created by master of the high-glam, vertiginous heel Brian Atwood, together with the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show design team, they contribute a further 1,630 crystals to the ensemble.

The Swarovski look will appear in the show’s party girl-inspired Bright Night Angel section. The others include The Road Ahead, Mountain Romance, Secret Angel, Dark Angel and Pink Nation. On November 30, before an audience of invited guests at Paris’ Grand Palais, together with 51 other models showing off a total of 82 looks, Josephine will light up that world-famous runway!

Don’t miss the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—it will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 10pm EST on December 5, 2016, across over 190 countries.
