Unquestionably, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have bagged the top spot as the ultimate power couple. Continuing their unchallenged dominance over the world of music, they’ve now embarked on a spectacular joint tour entitled On the Run II—a majestic tribute to their trail-blazing creative partnership.
Yes, it may be a further installment of the relationship saga that brought us such sensational albums as Lemonade and 4:44, but this most recent collaboration isn’t about betrayal—it’s about strength. As well as a knockout set list (including Noughties bangers such as ‘”Crazy in Love,” R&B anthem “Run The World ,” and modern classics like “99 Problems”) their latest tour is an exhilarating showcase for Beyoncé’s rule-defying, trend-defining wardrobe.
Famous the world over for her show-stopping looks, Queen Bey certainly doesn’t disappoint. In a series of sizzling, shocking, stunning outfits, we see her embrace everything from bejeweled, crystallized bodysuits to shiny black latex. And while the over-the-knee boots, leopard bustier and fishnet facemask have been the fashion talking points of the tour, her most breathtaking ensemble leaves us lost for words. This miracle of haute couture was created by Yassen Samouilov and Livia Stoianova, the creative duo behind Parisian atelier, On Aura Tout Vu, to complement her show’s matrimonial theme.
Made of ivory silk organza, the designers have given the ultra-romantic, vintage-look gown voluminous sleeves, a low corseted back, and an elaborately fitted bodice above a waterfall of draped, floor-length ruffles. With her hair enshrouded in a loose, pearl-dusted hood and her face hidden behind a crystal veil of long pearl strands, she was as radiant as a bride, pure as a nun, and mysteriously, demurely sexy. The modesty of On Aura Tout Vu’s design seems to contradict the tell-all narrative of the couple’s performance. It made us consider that among the revelations, the exhibitionism, and the honesty of this powerful tour, Beyoncé has found a moment of privacy behind the pearls and sparkle. And as always, Queen Bey leaves us wanting that little bit more.
