Meet makeup artist Regina Harris
It’s all about skin, skin, skin—great barely-there foundation that’s a true match for the skin.
Which make up products do you use, and why?
I like Bobbi Brown because of the great range of colors and effective coverage exactly where you want it. For blemishes and under the eyes buy three shades, including one that’s lighter and another that’s darker, to highlight, contour, and adapt to the changing season as your skin tone changes. Lancôme has always been my go-to for mascara—they have so many different types, so you have to decide if you want to lengthen or thicken. Models and makeup artists love the Nars Multi Stick because it’s great for travel and it works on eyes, lips and cheeks. And Anastasia brow has brow grooming down to a fine art with perfect products and colors.
What beauty products do the models use off the runway?
Models wear no makeup whenever they can—mascara and lip balm at the most. They love DIOR Diorshow Mascara because if you’re only wearing one item you want to go big. A fashion favorite for lips is NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in a strong red called Dragon Girl.
Any upcoming makeup trends you think we’ll see more of?
Having more fun with color, particularly daring lip color: try focusing on just one element, like creating a full lip by over-lining the edges and going for a Burberry red. Or use fresh poppy pink to emphasize the eyes, as we saw at Dior, Hussein Chalayan and Lanvin.
Any advice for getting a supermodel look at home?
If you’re going to use mascara, curl your lashes first. If you’re wearing a lip color, exfoliate lips with a sugar scrub. Before you put on any makeup, make sure you moisturize. Use a light scrub once a week around the T-zone. It’s all about the preparation.
Who is your beauty icon?
I don’t have a particular beauty icon, but I will say that past and present, the famous women beauty icons achieved their status because they created their own individual look. Find your own way.
