Gaze into its mysterious, inky depths and you’ll see dramatic mountain range contours emerge, glittering as though formed of stars in a midnight sky.
It’s hard to imagine that we could be speaking of the latest luxury bathroom suite by Villeroy & Boch. Mention Chinese design star Steve Leung, however, and the picturesque fantasy is instantly believable. Founder of one of the largest interior design consultancies in Asia, he has made his name from work that reflects a chic combination of Northern European minimalism and traditional Asian culture. Naturally, he was the obvious choice to create something extraordinary for this latest partnership between the crystal maison and those leading purveyors of exclusive ceramic design.
The result was an exceptional pedestal basin and freestanding bath inspired by traditional Chinese shan shui landscape painting, which typically includes mountains, rivers and waterfalls among its elements. Leung studded the superb leather-wrapped Octagon pedestal and the Squaro Prestige bath panel with two sizes of Swarovski Xirius Rose crystals. The mesmerizing 3D contour effect comes partly from the clever placing of each crystal, partly from the contrast of sensuously tactile leather with the visual brilliance of Swarovski crystals. It’s no surprise that it took nearly 5,000 stones to create the bath design and over 1,000 for the basin. Look out for the Octagon and Squaro Prestige Crystals Edition at Villeroy & Boch and turn your bathroom into a luxurious sanctuary.
