Big Apple, Big Style

Winter looks with a frontier attitude

If it wasn’t red, white and blue at New York Fashion Week (February 10–18), it was swathes of fabulous fur. Melanie Galea of caught Camila Coelho with a gorgeous stars ‘n’ stripes statement clutch, and Chiara Ferragni in full US patriot mode; we’ll all be wearing winter knits with a fashion frontier attitude now.

Paola Alberdi, meanwhile, shoulder-shrugged her stop ‘n’ stare striped jacket, softening the look with delicate lace. Across the sidewalk, Irene Kim set off her signature full-spectrum locks and Veronica Ferraro contrasted casual denim and sneakers with bright whites plus furs. While Caroline Vreeland went for statement luxe, pitting her fur against supple black leather. An inspiration to the mere mortals among us, who focus on trying to keep the dry cleaning bill down, Danielle Bernstein kept her city look stylish but practical, teaming chocolate fur with all black. Go, fashion team America!
