Vivetta’s high-wire act at Milan Fashion Week AW17

Roll up! Roll up for the most stylish circus in town! It’s Milan Fashion Week, and one of the hottest Autumnl/Winter 2017 tickets was Vivetta’s 1920s circus-inspired show on February 23. A colorful cast of vintage big top motifs tumbled, twirled, spun and flew down the runway in a ravishing spectacle. There were pierrots, acrobats, harlequins, fortune-tellers, big cats, dancing horses, folk flowers and twinkling stars—all performing across a series of bowed, ruffled and frilled velvets, silks and satins. Notable details among the extravagantly embellished looks included lines of Crystal Banding, plus colored crystals woven into vibrant and characterful three-dimensional embroideries. The beaded stockings were a witty touch, calling to mind the safety net of a flying trapeze artist. But it was the pink-to-orange-to-red degradé crystal transfer pantsuit that made the headline act, blazing with all the flaming brilliance of a circus fire-eater. It’s no surprise that designer Vivetta Ponti used over 60,000 crystals to create this gloriously fun and feminine collection. Brava!
