Candice Lake wearing Atelier Swarovski at the Magnolia Cup Charity Auction in London
I was so honoured to be invited to attend the Magnolia Cup charity auction yesterday evening, as a guest of Swarovski. The event was in support of Place2Be, The Duchess of Cambridge’s charity.
Since its inception, the Magnolia Cup has raised over £1million for charity. The all female riders, none of whom are licensed jockeys, will race over five and a half furlongs in front of an anticipated sell-out crowd of 25,000 on August 3rd.
Some of the ladies have experience of riding to a high level, such as international event rider and last year’s winner Izzy Taylor, while others are learning to ride from scratch for the occasion, such as double Olympic gold medal-winning sailor Sarah Ayton. Also making her debut in the race will be sports broadcaster Aly Vance, who previously represented Great Britain in modern pentathlon.
Swarovski is supporting the event for the first time which is in complete alignment with their ethos of supporting female empowerment and gender equality in sport. I am thrilled ot be apart of such a wonderful event and can not wait for race day!
